Educational Center of the University of Ferrara

Project, not just product: for the new Educational Center of the University of Ferrara, we operated as general contractor, completing the setup of all spaces by adopting both custom solutions and catalog products.

Curated by Metroplan Architettura Ingegneria, Techplan, and Arca Engineering, the project spans two floors and 5,200 square meters. The spaces dedicated to study, research, and social interaction feature 1,700 workstations for faculty and students of Medicine and Surgery, Health Professions courses, and Sports Sciences.

Particularly notable is the 482-seat conference room for which we provided or custom-made all furnishings and accessories: from teal fabric armchairs to the lectern, from sound-absorbing panels to curtains and projectors.

The classroom workstations are also custom-made: equipped with a spring-return tilting mechanism and a tiltable multi-layer wooden work surface, they have a structure in extruded aluminum, and a base and backrest in shaped plywood.

The wooden structures overlooking the rooftop garden on the first floor were also specially designed, modulating different heights to create benches, desks, and stools suitable for breaks or meetings with a view of the greenery.

In the laboratory area on the first floor, where we also handled the installation of movable partition walls, students can sit on a visitor seat model with a tiltable writing surface.

Not just custom furniture. In the lounge areas on the first and second floors, you can sit on the modular Shock sofas designed by Alessandro Crosera, configured here as compositions articulated in the space and chosen in blue, green, and yellow finishes. These same sofas create relaxation niches in some passage areas on the first floor.

Comfort and functionality distinguish the three study rooms, which we managed from wood paneling to all the furniture designed with four-seat tables and Seed chairs: a versatile model from the Sem collection in recycled polypropylene, selected here in black, white, teal, mint green, and peach pink.

Finally, in the ten offices and meeting rooms, a correct working position is ensured by the Tam task chair designed by Massimo Costaglia to be ergonomic, with padded seat and backrest and lumbar support.
